SUMMARY:S.O.U.P (Support of Urban Projects)
DESCRIPTION:Where big ideas are served with a side of soup. For over a decade\, S.O.U.P (Support of Urban Projects) has been gathering neighbors\, dreamers\, and doers to uplift Greater Green Bay. It’s your chance to hear bold community-improving ideas\, cast your vote\, and help fund the future\, all while enjoying a cozy meal. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nevent details\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\n\nConsider donating non-perishable items to support local families! We will be collecting donations for food pantries in Greater Green Bay. \n\n\n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nMulva Cultural Center – 221 S. Broadway\, De Pere\, WI 54115 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2025 projects\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject: Laundry Love Brown County \n\n\n\nNon-Profit: Laundry Love Brown County – Restoring Dignity One Load at a Time \n\n\n\nLaundry Love Brown County is an all-volunteer nonprofit that provides free weekly laundry services to individuals and families in need. Our project transforms laundromats into spaces of dignity and connection\, offering detergent\, supplies\, and compassion at no cost. Since 2022\, we’ve served over 15\,000 people and completed 48\,000 loads of laundry. This project focuses on sustaining and expanding our outreach through community partnerships\, fundraising\, and creative awareness efforts to ensure every neighbor in Brown County has access to clean clothes and renewed dignity. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject: Stock the Truck \n\n\n\nNon-Profit: Wello Inc. \n\n\n\nWello’s mission is to co-create community conditions that are fair\, just\, and drive high levels of health and well-being for all. In that spirit\, Wello has served as the non-profit planning partner for the Titletown Winter Games presented by U.S. Venture since 2019\, helping remove barriers in participation (e.g.\, clothing\, transportation\, etc) so youth served by area nonprofits are able to enjoy the event\, increasing physical activity and community connection in the winter. These area youth get unique access to the event on Saturday from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM prior to it being open to the public. Wello now has a truck – putting our well-being mission on wheels. Our project – called “Stock the Truck” – will activate our truck by providing a locally sourced healthy snack to the nonprofit youth during the Saturday morning session to connect play\, nourishment\, and community well-being in one shared space. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject: Resilient Roots: A Culturally Responsive Approach to Body Positivity for Youth in CASA \n\n\n\nNon-Profit: CASA Brown County \n\n\n\nAn event where youth involved with CASA can attend and learn about body positivity and inclusivity when they might be feeling alone or unsupported. They will have the opportunity to get their hair braided or cut (from a barber) depending on their style and need. CASA volunteers\, birth\, and foster parents attend and learn about how to support body and hair positivity. It is very important that adults take care of children and young adults have a greater understanding of the cultural needs of others. The children will be of all backgrounds and diversities-it is important for them to learn about inclusion and how they are also a part of that\, all of us are unique and that includes our hair and skin. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject: Built Literacy Environments \n\n\n\nNon-Profit: Achieve Brown County \n\n\n\nOnly 54% of 3rd graders in Brown County are meeting reading benchmarks. The foundation for learning to read begins at birth as children are exposed to vocabulary\, letter sounds\, books\, and more. Studies show Literacy Rich Environments outside of home and school positively impact a community’s reading achievements. These environments allow for learning through diverse perspectives and interactions\, providing opportunities for hybrid language practices and intercultural exchange while allowing students to explore their identities and cultural backgrounds.  With your support we will create a model for installing literacy rich resources in public spaces such as parks\, laundromats\, waiting rooms\, and others to develop a deep culture of literacy throughout our county and ensure all children can thrive as they learn to read! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProject: Messy Arts Guild \n\n\n\nNon-Profit: Messy Arts Guild \n\n\n\nThe Messy Arts Guild is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to offer studio access for intermediate and advanced artists\, a workshop space for the public as well as continuing education for member artists\, gallery space\, and a supply store for artists’ needs. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow does it work?\n\n\n\n\nLocal restaurants bring the flavor with their best soups and breads\, and local changemakers bring the inspiration. Each presenter—whether an individual or organization—has just three minutes to pitch a project designed to enhance life in our area\, followed by a live Q&A session where the audience gets to dive deeper.\n\n\n\nAdmission is just $10\, and that fee directly contributes to a micro-grant\, awarded to the winning project by your vote. Every presenter walks away with community support\, but one walks away with funding to make their idea a reality. The minimum grant is $500 and can grow with each additional attendee—so bring a friend and amplify the impact.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrequently asked questions\n\n\n\n\nDo I have to be a Green Bay resident to submit a project?\nNo\, but the project must be implemented within Greater Green Bay. \n\n\n\n\nWhen will I know if my project was selected to present at the event?\nYou will be notified at least 3 weeks prior to the event. \n\n\n\n\nHow long will I have to present?\nChosen applicants will be given 5 minutes to present their proposal to event attendees. 3 minutes will be allowed for Q &A. \n\n\n\n\nWill there be technology available?\nIf all selected projects desire technology\, it will be offered. If not\, technology will not be offered to presenters in order to keep the presentation format equitable. This is a question on the application. \n\n\n\n\nI can’t make it to the event\, can I still apply?\nNo\, you must be present at SOUP to present your proposal. You may designate another member of your project team to present on your behalf. Grant recipients are also required to present their progress at the following SOUP event. \n\n\n\n\nI applied for SOUP previously but was not selected to present. May I apply again?\nYes\, we receive many proposals and can only accommodate a certain amount per event. We encourage you to reapply for the next event! \n\n\n\n\nIf I am selected to present my proposal do I need to buy a ticket for myself to the event?\nNo\, if chosen\, you will have ONE FREE entry per organization for the presenter. All others presenting with you\, friends\, staff\, supporters\, loved ones\, etc. will have to purchase a ticket to get in. \n\n\n\n\nIf I presented\, can I still vote?\nYes! \n\n\n\n\nDo I have to be a member of Chamber Young Professionals (Chamber Member) to apply/attend?\nNo\, all demographics are welcome! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPast recipients\n\n\n\n\nMicah Center\n\n\n\nLovin’ the Skin I’m In\n\n\n\nFoster the Village\n\n\n\nMulticultural Club – Langlade Elementary School\n\n\n\nOur Table: Hunger Heroes\n\n\n\nGood Neighbor Week\n\n\n\nDoty Elementary School’s Food for Friends Pantry\n\n\n\nDeaf Group (Deaf Club)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe reserve the right to refuse registration or deny entry to any individual\, or to request that any attendee leave the event\, at our sole discretion and without prior notice. \n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Photography: Please be advised that photo or video may be taken at this event for use on the Chamber website\, social media\, and/or other promotional materials.
