What Is the Career PAthway?

Career pathways are small groups of occupations within one of sixteen career clusters. Jobs within a pathway share common skills, knowledge, and interests.

A multitude of career options and pathways can lead you to a successful future.

Once you have a better understanding of your skills and interests, explore if careers in need of your skill-set is the right fit for you by...

  • Researching the career cluster/pathways to learn about all the opportunities available
  • Watching virtual videos
  • Participating in related activities/clubs before and after school
  • Getting a part-time job that relates to your interest area
  • Volunteering in career-related organizations
  • Connecting with a local employer for job shadow, internship, or on-site tour
  • interviewing an employee working in that field

Exploring career pathways is an organized approach to career planning for anyone wanting to land a first job or to improve skills for different or better job opportunities. A personal approach to your exploration may point to a certain high school curriculum, a college or technical school education, or specialized job training.
