More than 100 volunteers are needed to help inspire the youth attending the Find Your Inspiration event. There are different ways to get involved, and college students, young professionals, business leaders and community members are welcome to be a part of this student career exploration event.
Life skill activity leaders
Upon arrival to the event, the students engage in a variety of activities to sharpen their critical thinking, problem solving and troubleshooting skills, as well as gain better understanding of the need for teamwork, proper dress and time management in the workplace. Activity leaders will host hands-on, engaging activities to encourage students to be active thinkers and listeners when exploring the event and beyond.
Inspirational and career zone navigators
Navigators will be the knowledgeable experts of the exhibitors in each career zone to assist students who look hesitant, unengaged, or unsure of where to begin. The goal will be to ask them questions about their interests, and help them start a conversation with one of the exhibitors. Some students are overwhelmed with the number of exhibitors and opportunities throughout the event and need some one-on-one attention to help find an exhibit that interests them.
Additionally, navigators will be knowledgeable about the schedule for each career zone and provide assistance to exhibitors and school staff regarding the day's schedule, including breaks, lunch time, exhibitor hideaways, restrooms, etc.
The students arrive in groups and rotate through career zones in intervals. Rotation leaders will monitor the pathway between career zones, engage students who arrive early in conversation about what they saw, their career interests, assist students in leaving the career zone during the transition time and keep groups moving through the event according to the schedule.
