Rooted in Community, Built for the Future: Somerville’s New Headquarters on Riverside Drive

After nearly 80 years of designing spaces that shape Northeast Wisconsin, Somerville Architects & Engineers has opened a new chapter, one that honors its legacy and invests boldly in their future. On October 14, they proudly celebrated the grand opening of their new headquarters at 2120 Riverside Drive in Allouez, joined by over 300 employees, partners, clients, and community leaders.
This 35,000-square-foot, two-story building, situated on a 1.4-acre lot with 187 feet of Fox River frontage, represents more than just a modern workplace. It’s an investment in the future of northeast Wisconsin. Designed with long-term growth in mind, Somerville’s new headquarters accommodates over 60 employees and provides space for collaboration, creativity, and connection. With a mezzanine level, outdoor terrace, and direct access to the Fox River Trail, the setting celebrates the natural beauty of our region while creating an innovative work environment for their team.

The building embodies Somerville’s philosophy of blending innovation and tradition. The building was thoughtfully rotated 15 degrees from true east/west to maximize natural light while reducing glare and heat gain. Its timeless palette of natural stone, brick, and wood-look metal panels blends contemporary and traditional forms.
Inside, the space fosters flexibility, collaboration, well-being, and technology integration, featuring a large open studio, sit-stand workstations, glass-walled private offices, numerous meeting rooms, two large gathering spaces, and inviting areas such as their Legacy Lounge and a cozy fireplace seating area. Amenities such as a wellness room, indoor parking, sound masking, and Wi-Fi throughout, including on the terrace, create a dynamic and supportive environment for their team.
But this building is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a tangible investment in the community where Somerville’s staff lives, works, learns, and plays. From charitable giving and sponsorship to designing many of the region’s most iconic buildings, Somerville has always believed in giving back. By investing in this new headquarters, they are reaffirming that commitment and demonstrating confidence in the continued growth of Greater Green Bay. It is Somerville’s hope that their investment encourages others to do the same, to build, reinvest, and create spaces that support the people and places that make our community thrive.
Somerville’s new home on Riverside Drive stands as a testament to where they’ve been, what they value, and where they’re headed, rooted in community and built for the future.
